: the story of "Flychelangelo"...

It all started at a boring party back in 2004.. I went for a walk, found a dead fly on the ground, picked it up and put it on a piece of paper, I drew silly arms and legs around it just for fun and then photographed it. That's it. My friends laughed at the picture, we drank another beer and the party continued..

The week after that I created a few more pictures. The images then lay forgotten in my laptop for years before I finally uploaded them on Sweden's largest photo website.
Then everything happened very quickly! Someone on that photo website, don´t know who, uploaded them on a big website in the U.S.
Just days after that my photos were featured in the newspaper The Sun!

Shortly thereafter, my email exploded with inquiries from all over the world, newspapers, interviews, radio, TV.
In 2010, I released a gift book of my flies, the book became very popular and is now released in seven countries. The book also became “Top pick of Christmas" at Harrods in London.
Since then I´ve had the honor to do work for Reanult, Fenistil, FlyLondon, Saatshi & Saatshi ect.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your kind words about my pictures - for your emails, , for visiting my exhibitions, for buying my book, art, postcards, calendars, clothing, and for so much more. Thank you!

A global internet sensation... hilarious the Daiy Mail
It is a book that never fails to make me laugh.. When I was in the shop, I actually laughed out loud, so my friend bought it as a present and possibly to get me out of the shop. If you think too deeply, it does have a ewuuuuuuuuuu factor.. but the concept and then the final outcome is really funny.Daisy
In THE LIFE OF FLY, Swedish artist Magnus Muhr has created a series of hilarious, memorable vignettes using common household flies. With just a few pencil markings, the flies transform into playful, friendly characters with little lives of their own--see them perform in a high stepping dance line, wait their turn at the diving board, sunbathe, horseback ride, and more. These totally unique photographs first found their way into the public consciousness as an e-mail forward that went viral and passed through inboxes worldwide. Summersdale published a version of the book in the UK in 2010 and the title was a hit at the Frankfurt Book fair this year--but we had already picked it up! American audiences will delight in the boundary-pushing, quirky, macabre art that recalls THE FAR SIDE, THE BOOK OF BUNNY SUICIDES, and more iTunes
At first sight, this book would be related to some kind of philosophies from "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka. There's nothing like that in this book. Just pencil sketches and photographies with real flies. Gross but hilarious jokes!
The Life Of Fly
Based on an internet hit, it's weirdly compelling. The Bookseller
Has the ‘Marmite’ factor, and could well be a Christmas hit. The Bookseller
Strange? Yes. Disgusting? Sort of. A book that encourages the morbid curiosity in all of us? Most certainly. St Christopher's Live Your Life ezine
